So when I first met Tricia, I was super jealous – her proposal was EXACTLY what I had always wanted! Josh & Tricia love visiting Duluth & Minnesota’s North Shore, and after a few years of stressed-out trips to Duluth, Tricia thought it might never happen. (I do this same thing every time my boyfriend and I visit – “This has to be the year!”) Finally, as Tricia put it, Josh got the hint, and popped the question in Duluth’s picture-perfect Canal Park. So dreamy!
I was pretty much forcing the idea of a North Shore engagement session on Tricia from the first time we had dinner together. I mean seriously, I wasn’t going to let her get away with saying no! Thankfully, it didn’t take much convincing, and we decided to snap some shots at the historic Glensheen Mansion in Duluth.
The fog on Lake Superior that day was so thick, you could only see a few feet past the shoreline. It made for a super romantic, moody backdrop for the session – and these two rocked it! Tricia mentioned that her favorite shots were the candid, real photos that showed a couple being themselves – and that wasn’t hard to do with her and Josh. These two are giddy whenever they look at each other, and you can totally see the love in every photo!
I am so happy that I’ve gotten to know such a beautiful couple – not only did they make my job super easy as a photographer, but they are such sweethearts, and we really had fun chatting about the different places we have stayed and dined while visiting Lake Superior. The two have plans to venture further up the North Shore to Grand Marais or Lutsen in the near future – I am so excited for them and know they will absolutely love it!
My favorite couples are those that can be silly with each other – and Tricia & Josh are no exception. I was giggling through most of the session as they lovingly teased each other. Genuine smiles always make for the best photos, and there was no shortage of them this afternoon! My favorite moment from the day came when Tricia spotted a big golden retriever in a truck in the parking lot, and was determined to make friends with him (and maybe take him home). Josh seemed to act like this was a common occurrence in their house – but I agree that their fur baby needs a little brother or sister!
Josh & Tricia, thank you so much for this wonderful afternoon, and for driving up to the best city ever so we could make these photos happen! If your engagement session could be this romantic and beautiful, I can only imagine what we will see on your wedding day.
