Sarah & Shaun
Wedding Love Story

This wedding was so unique, personal, and overall special that I’m not sure this blog post will be able to do it justice. Shaun & Sarah chose to hold a small ceremony and luncheon with their closest friends and family, with a larger reception to follow later in the month. I am an avid supporter of small ceremonies, and this day exemplifies why. There was not a dry eye in the room as these two read their hand-written vows. So much emotion!
As the ceremony started, the couple realized that they had forgotten to bring inside a book from which they had a reading picked out. While Shaun went to search the trunk of the car, Sarah told her guests the story of how the two of them had met. Suddenly, more of their decor made sense – the two had incorporated little touches from their first evening together into their big day, like the card game “ZAR” found on every table – they had met at a friend’s house, playing that exact game. Eventually Shaun returned to the room, noting that she was unable to find the book – which only contributed to their overall wedding theme: The Musical Comedy Extravaganza!
Music was a huge part of Shaun & Sarah’s celebration. Family and friends joined in playing various instruments and contributing to the big day. Shaun even sang her version of the periodic table of elements song – yes, this is a real thing and yes, Shaun has it memorized! The afternoon was spent enjoying a delicious lunch and laughing as the group reminisced on various memories of the couple.
After their ceremony, Sarah & Shaun ventured outside with me to explore the Landscape Arboretum. It is without a doubt one of my favorite places in Minnesota, and makes for a stunning wedding backdrop. We were able to find plenty of beautiful spots for photos, and it was so nice for the newlyweds to sneak away from the group for a bit, and enjoy some time to themselves!
Sarah & Shaun’s wedding rings were one of my favorite details from their wedding. The gorgeous wooden bands came in sets, and the women planned on wearing one set on chains as necklaces, and the other set on their ring fingers. Their justification? If they lose one, they’ll have a backup! Great thinking, ladies! We were able to create some wonderful selective color photos, to highlight just how unique and gorgeous their rings really are! Plus, during their ceremony, the rings were delivered by their Ring Bearers, via Ring Bears – how adorable is that?!?
Shaun & Sarah, thank you SO MUCH for inviting me to share in your wedding. Your love for each other is so unique and genuine, and it can be seen in every look and every touch! I wish you many more years of happiness and friendship together, and look forward to seeing where life takes you both.
