Miranda & Jacob
Wedding Love Story
March 18th, 2017
I have always been a total romantic, and dreamed of marrying my high school sweetheart as a teen. I loved the idea of meeting my one and only soulmate, falling in love, and spending the rest of my life with the same person.
For me, as for many of us, life didn’t work that way. Miranda & Jacob are the exception to the rule – these high school sweethearts have been going strong, through not only high school, but Jacob’s training and commitment to the United States Air Force, and the two show no signs of slowing down anytime soon!
Miranda is a total girlie-girl, and loves anything pink and glittery. She is lovingly referred to as a princess by her friends and family, and she expressed to me that she’s typically pretty good at getting what she wants. She and Jacob both knew what they wanted right away, from the time they first started flirting with each other at the local coffee shop.
I was blessed to be able to get to know these two before their big day, and they are such sweethearts. Their goofy, spunky, upbeat personalities are a perfect fit together and they are very good at making each other laugh. I loved that they worked these aspects into their wedding day – from stuffed animals on their head table, to snacking on Cheese-Its in the limo.
Mr. & Mrs. Higgins tied the knot at Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester, MN. The building is stunning inside, with an open, naturally-lit layout. I loved that their family priest knew them, and was able to keep the ceremony light and upbeat, while still capturing the love and devotion of the day.
After a gorgeous ceremony, the newlyweds were joined by their bridal party in a limousine for a ride around Rochester. The tunes were bumpin’ and the bride and groom even got some horn-honks and thumbs-ups from other cars. We stopped at a few different spots for photo-ops, and again I was able to watch Jacob & Miranda’s true personalities shine through. The ladies didn’t let a little snow and mud stop them, and quickly ditched their heels for some outdoor photos. Miranda’s prince charming even carried her back to the limo at the end – too cute!
Dinner and reception were held at the Blue Moon Ballroom, also in Rochester. Talk about a great venue! The couple opted for delicious home-style chicken, potatoes, and other yummy sides, and I’m confident no guests left hungry!
Miranda & Jacob shared a first dance to the romantic Photograph by Ed Sheeran, surrounded by teary-eyed friends and family. Even better, their first dance was choreographed, and Miranda had mentioned how much fun it was to take dance lessons with her now hubby!
As the first of her friends to get married, Mrs. Higgins was quite excited for her bouquet toss, and she was also pretty pleased that she won the “cake smash” – Jacob ended up with a face full of frosting after they cut the cake. Don’t worry, he got her back!
As these two venture onto the next chapter of life together, I wish them the best of luck, although it is clear they won’t need it. A military marriage is never easy, but I have never been more confident in a couple.
Mr. & Mrs. Higgins, thank you so much for finding me, and for including me in your wedding day. I am so excited to see your next adventures unfold! You were fantastic clients, and I am now lucky to call you great friends.
