Jennifer & Brian’s Love Story, Part 1
I cannot say enough great things about Jenny and Brian. We met for engagement photos at Betty Danger’s Country Club in Minneapolis. Clearly, we were off to a good start! Jenny had mentioned that she was an at-home mixologist and loved fun, fancy cocktails – so I knew that suggesting Betty Danger’s for some lifestyle engagement photos would steal her heart! I was ecstatic to learn that she hadn’t been there before, so we met early and had a bite to eat. Of course, the food and the cocktails were delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helped us with everything – I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a place to grab dinner in Minneapolis.
But enough about Betty Danger’s already. Brian and Jenny are so freaking fun! During lunch, we chatted about their love story, including that they are both excited for their low-key, relaxed wedding coming this June. Well, your photographer is just as excited! It was extremely apparent from the moment we sat down that these two are perfect for each other. I loved hearing about how well Jenny has connected with Brian’s daughter, and my heart melted as they showed me pictures of the two cooking together. She’s such a cutie pie!
These two have equally huge senses of humor, and most of our lunch was spent laughing as we got to know each other better. LET ME TELL YOU THE PROPOSAL STORY! Before a trip to Vegas, Jenny had mentioned a few times that she wanted a selfie stick. For her birthday (the day before they were leaving town), Brian got her one, and insisted she open it immediately. He also insisted that she try it out, right then and there. Begrudgingly, she conceded – and while she was snapping selfies, Brian snuck up behind her, ring in hand! Of course, she said yes – and she showed me the selfies, they’re as cute as you are imagining. What a great guy!
Save the Dates weren’t on the top of Jenny’s to-do list, but after finding this adorable sign on Amazon, we decided to work it into some photos – and I’m so glad we did! It turned out fantastic, and she plans on using them, along with another card, to send to their wedding guests. These two are wedding-planning pros. They’re focused on the good stuff – a sweet, laid-back venue, great food, and delicious drinks. I don’t think any of their guests are going to be disappointed!
Eventually, we ventured from the warmth of the restaurant to the Saint Anthony neighborhood of Minneapolis. Jenny had suggested a few pictures near the Stone Arch Bridge, and the weather cooperated decently – we got some sun, but it was nice and chilly! As we walked along the bridge, the two chatted with me about their plans for Superbowl Sunday, including the skillet nachos they were making for dinner – and I knew we were going to be friends. We ran into another couple taking engagement pictures, too, but I think ours turned out the best 😉
On our walk back to our cars, Brian mentioned how much he liked the old-school theatre along the brick road – so of course, we stopped for a few more photos! As I was taking these, Brian realized that they had actually come down to Saint Anthony Main years ago – for their first date! He recognized a restaurant down the street, explaining that they had stopped while attending an art fair in the summer. How freaking cool is that???
I adore this couple, and it is apparent to me (and I’m sure to all of their friends) that they are absolutely made for each other. Their humor and positive energy is contagious, and I had such a fun afternoon with them! Jenny and Brian, thank you so much for the opportunity, and for a great day together, having a blast! I cannot wait to party with you on your big day. 6/3/17 – it will be here before you know it!
