Avni & John
Wedding Love Story
May 27th, 2017
Looking back on John & Avni’s big day, I am so overwhelmed with the emotion behind every little aspect of their wedding celebration.
For starters, they couldn’t have asked for a better day weather-wise. May weddings in Minnesota are unpredictable, to say the least – but the skies were absolutely perfect! The couple was blessed with that lucky wedding rain for a mere fifteen minutes during the start of their ceremony, and by the time they exchanged vows, the sun was shining bright. Their friends’ home in Lakeville was the backdrop for their day, providing luscious greens and plenty of room for everyone to roam.
This was my first time capturing a Hindu celebration, and to say that it is one of the most romantic traditions that I have ever witnessed would be a serious understatement. I was lucky enough to be blessed with Avni’s family, who explained and translated throughout the ceremony, and I had tears in my eyes for most of the morning. There is so much thought, tenderness, and respect put into the exchanges spoken during these ceremonies that it really makes you think about what marriage is supposed to mean.
The colors of their celebration are beyond words. My photos capture only an ounce of the brightness and fun of the day. Guests were encouraged to dress up in traditional Hindu clothing or wear the brightest colors they could find – and the couple wasn’t disappointed! To keep the fun theme going, Avni & John provided their friends and families with yard games, including life-sized Jenga, along with plenty of snacks and drinks. The music didn’t stop all day, and guests enjoyed their time in the sunshine, laughing and socializing.
Have I mentioned the word fun? John, Avni, and their entire friend-group were SO much fun! They were quick to jump in when I suggested some goofy photos, and it was nothing but smiles all day from everyone present. I loved how much the day had a family-vibe: this is such a tight group of people, that it really didn’t feel like friends. Even those who didn’t know each other in the morning, were laughing and chatting together by mid-afternoon (myself included). We spent a few hours grubbing out on delicious, traditional food while the bride and groom took some much-needed relaxing time in the house.
It was a true celebration, in every sense of the words. There is no doubt in my mind that Avni & John are absolute soul-mates: there is no one more perfect in this world for each other, than each other. Thank you both for inviting me to share in your wedding day with you. I am still overwhelmed by the true beauty of every single moment.
To a life full of happy memories together – Cheers to you two!
